Florida Information Gathering on Human Trafficking
The Florida State University, Center for the Advancement of Human Rights and 1HTC will conduct “Project FIGHT,” a pilot project to determine the extent and severity of human trafficking based upon data and resource provision information. Phase 1 will conduct surveys into resources available in the SE Region of Florida (Martin, Monroe, Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach). The resource directory derived will be the first step toward phase two which will collect statistical information including arrest numbers, and resource entity information that create the reality for the region. In addition, phase 2 will identify trends to create an understanding of the extent and severity of human trafficking in the region from service providers, law enforcement and the community.
The objectives of the project are:
- To develop a region that is informed and responsive based upon actual data obtained.
- To collect detailed feedback regarding the impact of the data collected
- To conduct proper assessment of the respective area, available resources and identify numbers to allow proper allocation of resources.
